[Under Construction]

Who we are

American Indians in Unity is focused on building unity though housing.

We envision a community where American Indian people live in stable, safe, affordable and culturally-meaningful housing.

We believe that stable housing is the basis for success in many other areas-empowering our people to live healthy and happy lives with a sense of community and pride

Our Focus on housing

We are focused on increasing homeownership and housing opportunities for American Indians in the 7-county Twin Cities region; to accomplish this we are focused on:

  • Building and renovating housing

  • Preparing people in our community for homeownership

  • Participating in community networking and collaborative efforts to promote housing for our families

Our goals & objectives

  • Making a change in housing for the American Indian community through new construction, rehab and partnerships

  • Conducting educational programs to give our people the skills they need to be successful home owners

  • Working on activities to connect and increase cultural identity for the area's American Indian community

  • Bringing our community together to celebrate American Indian Month every May

Our History

American Indians in Unity has been a part of the Twin Cities since 1980

A dedicated group of American Indians initially formed the organization to promote awareness and understanding of our cultures and to facilitate communication between American Indian service Organizations.

Our work shifted as we became aware of potential to help our community by developing housing inspired by the history and cultures of our people. Since 2002 we have moved 7 families into homes and will be building more homes at the rate of three a year. By 2008 we hope to add rental units to our portfolio.
